LG Electronics is targeting the commercial display market using its OLED signage.

LG Electronics installed wave-shaped OLED signage wall at ‘Seoul Dragon City’ which recently opened in Yongsan, Seoul. And 39 units of 55-inch OLED flexible signage (Model: 55EF5C), which can be bent depending on the installation site, were connected in curved tilting configurations. It has a magnificent screen which is 27 meters-long and 3.4 meters-wide.

Seoul Dragon City has 4 hotels in 3 different buildings. It consists of Grand Mercure Ambassador Seoul Yongsan, Novotel Suites Ambassador Seoul Yongsan, Novotel Ambassador Seoul Yongsan and Ibis Styles Ambassador Seoul Yongsan. LG Electronics installed OLED signage on the 31st floor ceiling of Sky Kingdom, which is the bridge between the top floors of the two buildings. ‘Sky Kingdom’ consists of lounge bar, roof top bar, swimming pool, cafe and party room.

Unlike LCD, OLED signage has no backlight and each pixel can emit light, so different dimensional images can be realized. In addition, wide viewing angle is not distorted at any angle, so it is suitable for signage that many people see together.

The OLED signage is so thin and light that it is possible to efficiently utilize space by hanging on the wall or ceiling, etc. and easy to make a curved shape. LG Electronics has introduced new types of signage such as wave shape, arch shape, and tunnel shape by taking advantages of OLED.

LG Electronics covered the inner three walls and ceiling of the 2nd Lotte World observatory elevator with OLED signage earlier this year. A total of 60 units of OLED signage were installed in two duplex-type observation elevators. OLED signage shows various images vividly for about one minute while going up the observation deck on the 118th floor.

LG Electronics also installed 36 large-scale OLED flexible signage walls at Yeongjongdo Paradise City. OLED flexible signage is an innovative panel that can be made concavely or convexly to fit the installation environment. Beyond simple video display, it can be made in an artistic form like a sculpture.

Lee Sang-yoon, vice president of LG Electronics’ Korea B2B Group, emphasized, “We will deliver new value in the signage market through our different quality and design that only OLED can implement.”
